Founded in 1984 by Bryan Westcott and Andrew Vos, BopCons has evolved from a small construction company into one of South Africa’s most respected civil engineering contractors. Over four decades, the company has successfully delivered major infrastructure projects including the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, municipal Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems for Johannesburg, Tshwane, and significant mining infrastructure developments across multiple provinces. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, BopCons has shown strong resilience by returning to pre-pandemic turnover levels, expanding into coal and platinum mining, and securing work on Western Cape provincial roads and flood repairs, as well as City of Cape Town road maintenance projects. As a CIDB Level 9 contractor with Level 1 BBBEE status and over 51% black ownership, BopCons continues to lead transformation in South Africa’s civil engineering sector while maintaining its commitment to excellence and infrastructure development.

Our Story
BopCons was founded in 1984 by Bryan Westcott and Andrew Vos. The company was formerly known as Bryan Westcott (Pty) Ltd. In 2006 the company changed its name to Bophelong Construction (Pty) Ltd, trading as BopCons. Additionally, we also adapted our business approach in order to demonstrate our commitment to transforming according to the needs of our country.
